'I like Fox TV'!
This recent declaration from Newstalk ZB talkback host Bruce Russell was hardly a surprise. Russell, who does the midnight to dawn shift, is another gung-ho right-winger - as are most of the talkback hosts in this country.
So the fact that he likes the Bush-loving Fox TV is par for the course.
Russell slams most things he regards as 'liberal' or 'left wing' and that includes the opposition to the United States occupation of Iraq and the campaign against global warming.
He is laughingly called 'well read' on the Newstalk ZB website but, judging from his general ignorance about most things, this just probably means he reads the TV Guide each week.
When the United States invaded Iraq, Russell argued that it was justified because Al Queda had 'training camps' in Northern Iraq.
It was utter rubbish of course but Russell never retracted his statement - in fact, he went on to darkly hint that maybe Saddam Hussein was going to get nuclear weapons.
Clearly Russell gets his 'facts' from Fox TV...
