"'Heaven is not taken by consensus, it is taken by assault. We are coming from the bottom and we're going for the top."says the leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias.

THE NATIONAL Party's favourite attack dog, Cameron Slater, won Massey University's 2014 New Zealand Quote of the Year competition. He received 21 per cent of 4197 votes cast in the competition for this"witticism":

"I play politics like Fijians play rugby. My role is smashing your face into the ground."

Very inspiring.

We saw Slater's vicious and elitist philosophy at work just a few days ago when he attacked  the hundreds of people queuing for food parcels at the Auckland City Mission. They are struggling to have sufficient food for Xmas and the New Year.

Slater' can always be relied on to grind the faces of the poor into the ground and so it proved on this occasion.Wrote Slater:

"Bludgers will be bludgers, if you are giving stuff away for free of course you will inundated…"

My quote of the year though is from the leader of Spain's left wing Podemos party.

Pablo Iglesias told a meeting earlier this year "Heaven is not taken by consensus, it is taken by assault. We are coming from the bottom and we're going for the top."

As history has shown time and time again, freedoms and rights are not secured by making deals with the ruling elite, they must be fought for. And as history has also shown, the occupying power itself must be removed from heaven.

It is a message resonating with the people of Spain with all the polls indicating that Podemos will win the next general election.
