Lorde - and the New Zealand government - have been accused of anti-Semitism by an Israeli government lobby group. This full page advertisement was published in the Washington Post on December 31.

IT HAS apparently dawned on apologists for the Israeli government that singer Lorde isn't going to reverse her decision to cancel her scheduled concert in Tel Aviv  later this year.

A week ago, the Israeli ambassador to New Zealand, Itzhak Gerberg, invited Lorde to have a 'friendly meeting on Israel' with him. Gerberg just wanted to urge her not to succumb 'to the hateful agenda' of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

But, over in the United States, the Israel lobby has thrown the gloves off. A full page advertisement has appeared in the Washington Post (December 31) which accuses both Lorde and the New Zealand government of anti-Semitism.

The advertisement says that "..it's time we send a clear message that there will be no tolerance for intolerance. Lets boycott the boycotters and tell Lorde and her fellow bigots that Jew-hatred has no place in the twenty-first century."

As is usually the case with the Israel lobby, opposition to the Israeli government's continuing oppression of the Palestinian people is being deliberately misinterpreted as 'anti-Semitic'.

The advertisement blasts the New Zealand government for voting at the United Nations to condemn the Trump administration's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The advertisement was produced and paid for  by The World Values Network. It was founded by Shmuley Boteach to promote 'universal Jewish values in the media and culture'. Boteach refers to himself as 'America's rabbi' and 'the most famous rabbi in America'. He endorsed Donald Trump's bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

Boteach has also publicly declared his support for white nationalist Steve Bannon and one of the founders of the 'alt right' news website Brietbart.

"Steve Bannon has shown great support for Israel and this administration promises to be very strong for the Jewish state,' he tweeted shortly after Trump was elected president.

Boteach has written an article  for Brietbart  attacking Lorde and quoting the Zionist Federation of New Zealand:

'The Zionist Federation of New Zealand put it well when they condemned Lorde for joining the ranks of 'those who wish to see the destruction of Israel..By singling out Israel amongst other nations whose human rights abuses make any that Israel supposedly commit a drop in the ocean, shows the double standards and discrimination towards the Jewish state of those in the BDS movement".

Boteach concludes his article by suggesting that the young New Zealand singer needs to seek "guidance from the Lord"  in order to "fix a severely broken moral and spiritual compass".

  1. He is right. She should have cancelled her concerts in Russia. She also needs to boycott NZ which stole NZ from the Maori.

    1. The Boycott Divestment Sanctions Movement is about making a stand against the continuing oppression of the Palestinian people by the Israeli government. Lorde understands that - you obviously don't.
