In this new (ir)regular column, we highlight some interesting podcasts that are worth checking out....

WHAT'S LEFT?
What's Left is a brand spanking new podcast from Sarah Leonard. Sarah is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and a senior editor at  The Nation.

This podcast is a weekly political interview show and the first edition is all about socialism and the Democrats. It features an interview with DSA member and candidate for Congress, Rashida Tlaib.

As well, journalist Kate Aronoff, a writing fellow at In These Times and a contributor to The Intercept and Jacobin, assesses America's 2018 wave of socialist candidates. In socialist candidate-free New Zealand, listen and weep...

MEDIA ROOTS RADIO
Long before she stepped up to The Empire Files, Abby Martin was producing Media Roots Radio with her brother Robbie. It focuses on American foreign policy, social issues and the police state.

The most recent edition looks at the reactionary role of the Supreme Court in the United States and the election of the left wing Lopez Obrador as Mexico's new president.

BREAKFAST POLITICS WITH JOHN MOORE
John Moore, who writes at Liberation and has been republished on this blog, talks politics on Dunedin's Radio One.The show is also available as a podcast on the Radio One website.

John is  joined in the studio by Dr Phil Ferguson and Sarah Martin. A recent edition looked at the issue of free speech in the light of the controversy surrounding two visiting Canadian 'alt right' speakers and the cancellation of Don Brash's address at Massey University by the Vice Chancellor.

The August 17 podcast asks why teachers have been on strike and whether strikes are 'cool' again.

A left wing antidote to sleepy mainstream panel discussions...
