Deb Haaland: The first native American  woman to be elected to Congress.
IN THE WEEK of the midterm U.S. elections, Laura Flanders looks at the struggle for good governance in the United States.

We hear from historian Jeff Biggers, author of Resistance : Reclaiming An American Tradition. He says the book was inspired by his 12 year old son asking him whether there was any hope for his generation. He says that he went back in history to discover that hope.

She also profiles  Dream Defender Philip Agnew, and Democratic candidate Deb Haaland who became the first Native American woman to be elected to the US Congress. Plus, women’s suffrage fighter Susan B.
