KATE TEMPEST was recently in the country for the New Zealand Festival of Arts.

Variously described as a poet, a rapper and a 'spoken word' artist, English-born Tempest’s work is infused with an anti-capitalist sentiment but which, at the same time, celebrates the lives and courage of working class people living in an increasingly precarious world.

She has released four albums and
'People's Faces' is taken from her most recent album The Book of Traps and Lessons. The video was directed by Natalya Lobanova.

In December 2019, along with 42 other leading cultural figures, she signed a letter endorsing the Labour Party under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn. The letter stated that 'Labour's election manifesto under Jeremy Corbyn's leadership offers a transformative plan that prioritises the needs of people and the planet over private profit and the vested interests of a few.'
