The genocide being committed in Gaza by the Israeli far right regime weighs heavily on many of us and will cast a shadow over the summer.

AT THE beginning of 2023 I did not envisage that, by the end of it, I would be witnessing genocide in Gaza. But as we approach the new year, the brutality of the far-right regime in Tel Aviv continues to descend to new levels of barbarism. It's now not enough to slaughter innocent men, women and children; the cemeteries of the dead must also be destroyed.

We are witnessing ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the complete obliteration of Palestinian society. And it has been supported and enabled by western governments, including New Zealand's. And orchestrated by the United States.

I don't intend to rehearse the statistics because most people are already familiar with them, but they are truly appalling. We have reached a stage where words cannot adequately describe the hell that has descended on the people of Gaza. But the photos and the video tell a truth that Zionists and their supporters cannot bury with lies, disinformation and distractions. They stand condemned as apologists for mass murder.

The documentary Gaza Fights for Freedom, directed by US journalist Abby Martin, explains the story of Gaza, past and present. At its core, Gaza Fights for Freedom stands as an indictment of the Israeli military for war crimes with exclusive documentary evidence and a stunning cinematic portrayal of Palestinians' heroic resistance. If you haven't seen it already, then it will be worth your time over the summer.

Abby was prevented from entering Gaza by the Israeli authorities, who described her as a 'propagandist'. However, she worked with journalists within Gaza to produce the documentary through the blockaded borders. She recently posted on X:

'I’ve been crippled with anxiety since Israel’s genocide began, I can’t eat or sleep without thinking of the souls trapped there waiting to die. And as soon as I want to step away, I remember that I can’t. No American can. This is on us. We have to channel our helplessness & anger into action. We have to escalate.'

That single post has been viewed over 1.5 million times and reposted nearly 10,000 times. Many of us obviously share Abby's anxiety.

Happy Xmas. War isn't over. Innocent people are being killed in Gaza by monsters.
