The US, Britain, and France prevented a UN Security Council statement condemning the Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy in Syria. It led to the Iranian attack on Israel.

THE US, Britain, and France have condemned Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel. Indeed, all the countries were involved in shooting down Iranian drones over Jordan, Iraq, and Syria.

But on 3 July all three countries, reported Reuters, 'opposed a Russian-drafted U.N. Security Council statement that would have condemned an attack on Iran's embassy compound in Syria, which Tehran has blamed on Washington's ally Israel.”

The Iran government later stated: 'Had the UN Security Council condemned the Zionist regime’s reprehensible act of aggression on our diplomatic premises in Damascus and subsequently brought to justice its perpetrators, the imperative for Iran to punish this rogue regime might have been obviated.'

The New Zealand Government too has condemned Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel, but it also did not condemn Israel's attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus. Once again, the National-led coalition government has shown that it is more than willing to have New Zealand's foreign policy dictated by the realpolitik of a declining American Empire.

While there are inevitable attempts by Israel, the United States and other western governments - like New Zealand's - to paint Iran as 'the bad guy', it is, of course, Israel that is committing genocide in Gaza.  The Zionist regime continues to be the epicentre for the Middle East's continued instability.
