4pm. The good people of Christchurch, including activists from Occupy Christchurch, occupy the foyer in the Christchurch City Council Civic Offices to protest the $70,000 salary increase for CEO Tony Marryatt.

Deputy Mayor Ngaire Button, who voted for the increase, tries to justify Marryatt's new bloated salary. The crowd is not impressed. Sideshow Bob fails to make an appearance.

  1. The Business Community is just as outraged and they will not let this drop either. If Sideshow, Wine Swigger Wells, A Bob each way Corbett and Button Moon think they'll come back after the festive break and this will all be forgotten they are going to be very disappointed!!!!!

Even Keown the Clown is trying to back track!!

  3. Wells tweeted on Christmas Eve to CCCouncil - thanks for your hard work, noticed and appreciated. How appreciated? 5%, 10%, 15 maybe. appreciation goes a long way in paying the bills........

  4. " noticed and appreciated " !! oh how very nice of her ... dunno if Swells has noticed but tweets don't pay the bills. I guess she thinks the riff raff would be so thrilled to be noticed by her they'll forget about their pay rates

  5. To all my fellow Christchurch Friends, residents and ratepyers If you are sick and tired of having your wallet robbed, then you need to be heard, you need to voice your distain. If we continue to sit back in this city and allow the sideshow to continue we will be living in a fairytale of Overpaid under performers, wondering how on earth we are going to raise the next few million for new lights on trains, CE payrises, Flower Shows, Wine Junkets, while all the while trying to feed our families. These people are wasting both your's and my money with impunity. It is time this ceased and those leading the circus be held to account.

That said, Go like this Page!

  6. Hot off the Press (Or so to Speak) Mayor Parker in Breach of sec 46A (7/7a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings ACT.

Well it appears our esteemed Mayor Parker as the presiding member of the Council Meeting failed to comply with the ACT in allowing the remuneration matter to be heard. The Act clearly states all non agenda items must be advised during public sessions and also state why these can not be heard at subsequent meetings. This Never Occurred and if Tony and the Exec were doing their jobs and properly advising our Councillors Bob would have been aware of this.

As such an item was discussed in contravention of the ACT, How many more Breaches of ACT's do we need to put up with. An ACT is LAW, breaching an ACT is Breaking the LAW, ergo BOB has broken the LAW.

    relevant sections of the ACT;

    7) An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at the meeting if—
    (a) the local authority by resolution so decides; and
    (b) the presiding member explains at the meeting at a time when it is open to the public,—
    (i) the reason why the item is not on the agenda; and
(ii) the reason why the discussion of the item cannot be delayed until a subsequent meeting.
(7A) Where an item is not on the agenda for a meeting,—
    (a) that item may be discussed at that meeting if—
    (i) that item is a minor matter relating to the general business of the local authority; and
(ii) the presiding member explains at the beginning of the meeting, at a time when it is open to the public, that the item will be discussed at the meeting; but
    (b) no resolution, decision, or recommendation may be made in respect of that item except to refer that item to a subsequent meeting of the local authority for further discussion.
