The liberal left has continued in its efforts to depict the Wellington occupation as the work of 'far right extremists'. But, unfortunately for the liberal left, reality keeps rudely interrupting.

THROUGHOUT THE course of the occupation of Parliament grounds in Wellington, the liberal left has actively sought to delegitimise the protest as the work of 'far right extremists'. They have been backed by the Government itself with Deputy Prime Minister Great Robertson unilaterally declaring - and sending a message to the police - that the  demonstrators have lost their right to protest 'due to their actions.'

Some of the attacks have been little more than hysterical. Clint Smith, for example, has tweeted: 'I wonder if the Police brass realise they're teaching every extremist in the country that they can surround Parliament & bring the capital to a halt & the cops will just let it happen. The appeasement is setting a bad precedent that will embolden dangerous people for next time...Time for the people to stop appeasing the far right'.

Smith runs a Wellington PR agency which boasts of its connections with the Labour Government. He is the former Senior Policy and Communications Strategist for Jacinda Ardern. He writes regularly for Spin Off.

And with the mainstream media wheeling in the self-appointed 'far right expert' Byron Clark to warn of the demonstration's 'potential violence,' Government supporters like Clint Smith and commentator Chris Trotter have been demanding that the police 'get tough' with the protesters. It does seem that the threat of 'potential violence' is coming from somewhere other than the demonstration.

But there has been some sanity among the madness. Political commentator Bryce Edwards has been spending his time chronicling the occupation. The photos speak for themselves. They depict ordinary New Zealanders raising their voices in protest. Is that a crime?

One such demonstrator is Clementine from Queenstown. She arrived at the demonstration with her pet goat because he 'goes everywhere with me'. She isn't anti-vaccination but is anti-vaccination mandates. But according to the liberal left she and her goat are 'right wing extremists'...
