IN 2021 British journalist and author Paul Mason, in conjunction with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, produced R is for Rosa. This three part series of short documentaries looks at the ideas of socialist revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg. Her ideas continue to influence the left today and in the opening episode, Paul Mason looks at Rosa's rejection of claims that there is a gradual and reformist path to socialism.
With the collapse of many social democratic parties or their surrender to neoliberalism (eg the NZ Labour Party), history has proven Rosa to be right. But the bridge to Rosa's 'world that is not yet here' is still to be approached.
